12th February CritL: Andy Lodge
I need to keep sending off to lots of stock companies to get a lot of free samples. So I have examples for clients and as reference. Order Fedrigoni. and Garnett based in Otley.
Geometry of Pasta interesting iconography.
Hannah Logo needs to be more consistent, I need to make the pineapple less sharp edged or make the type more sharp to make them fit better together. Push the material promotion.
Séarlait... get the type together. do examples for this week on how it can be applied.... make business cards. Get promotion together.
It's a case of gathering content for Brief 3&4. And creating a identity and style. In brief 3 I need to start categorising content and get the publication layout sorted.
Brief 4 I need to get content and know what I am going to make. Info-graphics. Find a lot of facts.
Brief 5 we are waiting to meet the fashion team.... I feel this will take a while.
Brief 6 I need to contact people.
Brief 7 (The Mosses Centre) - Andy said I should layout the brief and know what I should do and leave the major designing till later when I have the other briefs underway.
Additional Brief 3: Geordan ECLECTIC, basically just do designing as it comes along.

Initial Fashion Designs
Initial Designs
I have to research for the Yearbook tonight as well but I wanted to split my time between the Yearbook and the Fashion Show Branding.
Concept
Here is a scanned in brief that I have editing along with a mind map of my initial concepts and ideals of what the design should look like. The reoccurring theme I want to use is the fact that this is the first year Fashion Design & Fashion Innovation have joint together for the same event. They said they want to reflect Canal Mills whilst being clear, concise, professional, cutting edge, contemporary and minimal.

- Utilizing close up image of Canal Mills to show abstract texture with simple type design. Simple black and white.
- or using colours to celebrate Summer whilst still using the idea of jointing both parts of fashion.

Fashion Graduate Show Brief
I wanted to do the Fashion Brief before Christmas when I received the email but I was in definite after hand-in and Christmas mode. I researched Fashion Design over the holidays and found that I really enjoy the layout of most Fashion work: very minimal and normally with a good, clear concept. Everything is always very visual and include either a lot of bright colours or sophisticated using only black and white.
I remember receiving an email from Jamie saying he wanted to Collaborate with someone on this brief. I thought two header were better than one. It urned out he hadn't done any design for the brief either. In total we have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to think of a solid concept and design it. The hand in is 4pm on Thursday.
Canal Mills
Visiting Canal Mills
I rang Canal Mills on a whim to see if we could look around, we met Michele at 2:30pm. Me and Jamie decided to work together on this pitch, mainly because I thought two heads are better than one. Here are the best photographs I took whilst looking around Canal Mills:

I really like that range, i love the neon stock But, this is not what they are asking for this year, in the brief they use the words, concise, clean and professional. I think the neon colour and made typeface is much too grunge and edgy for what I have in mind that they want.

I personally do not rate this work, for me it is too simplistic.
