The Yearbook: The Concept and Info

The Concept
We have has 3 years at LCA. This is a 3 year journey. Within these years we have grown as designer and on this yearbook we celebrate the progression. 3 is a running theme throughout.

The Bind

We have decided to use an open bind and extended cover which will encase a pull out poster, this has been inspired from a photography magazine. The spine of the yearbook will use an exposed bind which will allow you to see each leaf of the book. It will also allow for maximum visibility of the images in the book as the spine will open to lye flat as not to cut any of the imagery out.

The Cover
The yearbook cover will be printed on GFSmith 270gsm Colorplan white frost paper stock. The colour on the cover will be UV spot varnished to create a difference in texture. The cover design will have an extended front cover which will open out to reveal a paragraph of information about the course and a encase a 28 x 28 cm square pull out contact poster. The pull out poster will include a photograph of each graduating student and their contact details. It will be held in place via two die cut slits at two of the corners and be slotted into place, the poster can then be removed and retained as a point of contact to all graduating students. The pull out poster will be printed on GFSmith 100gsm Colorplan white frost paper stock.

The Photography
There will be 3 photographs, each focusing on different aspects of the students work. the 1st would be a image to fill the whole page this would be a overall shot. The 2nd would be a image of the process. The 3rd could be a close up. the student can choose to be in one shot (recommended). Chris would sort out the Photography.

The Stocks & Ink
Using a GFSmith Colorplan swatch book we have decide to use:
-GFSmith 270gsm Colorplan white frost paper stock for the cover
-GFSmith 100gsm Colorplan white frost paper for the inner pages
-GFSmith 100gsm Colorplan white frost paper stock for the pull out contact poster

We will also use a spot colour that matchs the Park Green.

Tutor Comments
There will be 3 1/3 pages of the 150gsm GFSmith Colorplan Park Green coloured paper stock staged throughout the yearbook, these pages will contain quotes from each of the tutors and be positioned between a black and white double page spread of images of college resources. The bright colour against the black and white imagery will hopefully allow the quotes to be the focal point whilst also providing additional information about the course via the imagery.
